WORK EXPERIENCE
Geographic Information System Specialist - Purolator Inc, Mississauga, ON (April 2023 - December 2023)
As a Geographic Information System Specialist, I collected geographical data through fieldwork, satellite imagery, and other sources, ensuring the data's timeliness, accuracy, and accessibility by organizing and maintaining GIS databases. I analyzed spatial data using advanced mapping software to identify trends and patterns for research, marketing interests, and decision-making in areas such as route optimization, environmental management, and urban planning. Leveraging my expertise, I developed customized maps and visual displays tailored to specific project needs or client requests. I successfully managed GIS projects, overseeing timelines, budgets, and objectives while coordinating with cross-functional teams to drive initiatives forward. Furthermore, I provided technical support and training to users of GIS technology and documented methodologies and results through comprehensive reports, ensuring seamless collaboration and informed decision-making across stakeholders.
A key achievement in this role was my involvement in the development, ongoing updates, and day-to-day maintenance of the route optimization online platform utilized by all Purolator Logistics Centres. This platform is capable of categorizing all outgoing shipments for a given period based on service type, dimensions, weight, and destinations, determining delivery priorities and allocating packages to the appropriate shipment centers. Additionally, the platform optimizes the workload of available trucks at each station by accounting for workload and local realities, such as avoiding traffic interruptions and congestion, and generates optimized planned routes for efficient deliveries
Urban Planner - NPG Planning Solutions, Hamilton, ON (September 2022 - December 2022)
As an Urban Planner at NPG Planning Solutions in Hamilton, I played a key role in diverse development projects, from initial consultations to approvals for Official Plan and Zoning Bylaw amendments, Secondary Plans, Site Plans, and Subdivision and Condominium Plans. I independently designed supplementary plans for infrastructure projects, including roads, parking facilities, and accessory buildings, while ensuring site plan compliance with regulations. My work involved analyzing economic, legal, demographic, and environmental trends to guide planning decisions and policy development. Additionally, I attended and facilitated public consultation events, neighborhood information meetings, and Committee/Council presentations, effectively communicating complex planning initiatives. Leveraging technical expertise, I created detailed technical drawings, documentation, and project reports using AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. I also prepared 3D models and visualizations of planned developments with tools like SketchUp, Lumion, and City Engine.
A highlight of my achievements was the development of an innovative land map application for the City of Hamilton, Niagara Falls, and Niagara-on-the-Lake. This application integrates local property parcel fabric with planning-related information such as zoning, land use policies, and planning regulations, alongside real-time data on ongoing construction, traffic conditions, employment and entertainment centers, and established public infrastructure. The application is designed to assist professional urban planners in evaluating the development potential of a given parcel by generating a preliminary report detailing applicable zoning, land use policies, proximity to local development focal points, and surrounding infrastructure.
Architect and Urban Planning Intern - Beijing Institute of Architectural Design, Beijing (March 2021 - September 2021)
As an architect and urban planning intern, I played a critical role in the design, planning, and execution of a wide range of architectural and urban development projects. My responsibilities included producing detailed blueprints, schematics, floor plans, elevations, and 3D modeling visualizations to effectively communicate project concepts and technical details.
In addition to technical design, I was tasked with preparing tender documents for various projects, supporting procurement and bidding processes with comprehensive and professional materials. I created visualizations of preliminary architectural designs and detailed illustrations to articulate the project’s design language and sources of inspiration, ensuring alignment with the vision of stakeholders. My work extended to preparing in-depth reports analyzing the current condition of project land, its development potential in relation to surrounding urban realities, and outlining how proposed designs could foster local urban development and economic growth.
A highlight of my tenure was my involvement in the Liaocheng High-Speed Rail District urban planning master plan, a prestigious 10-year initiative requested by the city government of Liaocheng. Through collaboration with a cross-disciplinary team, I contributed to the creation of a transformative urban vision that harmonized functionality, sustainability, and cultural identity. The project centered around developing a newly established special economic district anchored by the city’s high-speed rail station. The multi-faceted master plan involved the strategic allocation of economic, entertainment, and residential resources around essential public infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and parks. It also focused on optimizing population flow within the planned area and from surrounding urbanized regions, developing a public transit network incorporating buses, trams, and BRTs to facilitate seamless transportation. The plan emphasized aesthetic and cultural alignment with the historic city of Liaocheng, preserving its heritage while advancing modern development.

Ltd., I evaluated the performance of the company’s previous sustainable development projects by conducting thorough assessments to ensure compliance with both local and national environmental regulations. These evaluations identified areas for improvement, enhancing the effectiveness and long-term viability of the initiatives while aligning them with sustainability goals.
Beyond environmental sustainability, I leveraged data-driven insights to analyze evolving urban dynamics and demographic trends. This analysis informed the development of tailored strategies for existing facilities and businesses to foster sustainable economic growth amidst rapid urban transition and expansion. These strategies were designed to align with local realities, addressing community needs, and ultimately enhance the organization’s ability to adapt to changing urban landscapes.
